Quick Fixes

Why is it that people are always looking for a quick solution to a problem? Whether it's having that quick smoke or taking a sip from that bottle... how does it really help what the underlying cause of the issue is? Is it that we have gotten to used to all of the conveniences of life that makes us expect life's problems to be fixed automatically? Have we lost patience to take the time to deal with things to learn whatever valuable could come from it? Or is it that we expect everyone else to fix things for us and pick up the pieces when things go wrong?

Perhaps it is just that misery loves company so we feel we need to drag others into our problems.. Perhaps we are just too caught up with daily life to really stop and look at the bigger picture..

Maybe we should all take a breathe and take a look around.

Taboo

I have often wondered why a woman's sexuality is taboo. I never understood why is it, that if a woman is sexually independent, she is automatically considered a whore. What makes a woman who is pure any better than another woman who has had experience? Why is it that if she gives it up on the first date, there is the stereotype that she is not wife material. What is the correlation between how long a woman can hold back that determines how long a relationship will last? In todays society where a woman's sexuality is more out of the box than ever before, why are there still both men and women who consider it such a taboo subject? How come it is acceptable for a man to sleep around but not acceptable for a woman? What does gender really have to do with it? When in actuality is just about self control and moderation. I am in no way saying that I believe it is ok to go sleep around with anyone and everyone. While boundaries should be respected, a person's sexuality should not be limited based on others perceptions when it is just a part of human nature. I think that its about time that stereotypes need to be broken.

Fear..

Does the fear of being hurt or cheated on ever go away once one is wounded? What does it take for someone to feel secure? Is it even possible?

Letting go

I find myself at a point in life that I feel truly optimistic about what lies ahead for me in the future. At the same time I am being utterly crushed.. trying to lift this heavy boulder off my shoulders. Although at times I can wedge it one way or another.. I find that it is my own fault that I just cant slip out from underneath this overwhelming block of fear..

If a person who has learned to forgive themselves for mistakes and who has forgiven others for what they have done.. How can they truly let go of all the fears they hold of it happening all over again? Its like walking on hot coals when you try to pick and choose the ones that will burn you less. When in reality they are all the same. At what point can you force yourself to run across and reach the end of the pit instead of always looking for what is wrong or what could go wrong before getting there?

Is it only a matter of trusting others who are trying to help you out? Or is it really that you just dont trust yourself? Because either way, they longer you stand there looking around, you are the only one getting burned.

My iPhone

I have owned an iPhone since December of 07. At the beginning, I didnt exactly buy into the hype and felt it was not worth the $700 it was being sold for. I felt my little Samsung phone did everything and more without the touch screen and was way better. Now.. after owning an iPhone.. I am back to my original thought that my Samsung was better. First off.. the phone doesnt have zoom or even a video camera. On top of that, it started giving me trouble when it didnt want to play in my car anymore. Then... it started dropping my calls or not even calling. To continue the drama it started blacking out and freezing up.

So after all the troubles, I took it to the Apple store for a "doctor appointment". Even though the guy was a complete ass, he gave me a new phone to replace my malfunctioning one. After I took my phone home, I thought it redeemed itself after I connected it to my computer and discovered that the backup restored ALL of my settings, calls, messages, etc.

However.. now I am pissed. Because now the blasted internet is not working. And I have been spending more of my day trying to fix my phone that is supposed to be functioning! Hence I started writing this blog while the phone is once again restoring and reloading. So to end this blog... Do not buy an iPhone..

Americans...

As I was studying for my final for History of Graphic Design, I came to the realization that Americans have always been imitators of the great. In some cases, they improve on what already was, but the idea is rarely originally their own. Under no circumstances do I exclude myself from this. After all, as a designer, I more find inspiration from things around me rather than coming up with these brilliant original ideas.

Reading through my textbook, it seemed as though the Europeans that fled to America during the war brought these brilliant ideas with them. Only to be criticized and ridiculed for what ignorance thought was not up to par. But in reality, although many of us can look at something and say it does not look like much, the person next to you may be willing to pay thousands of dollars for it. So maybe we should work on appreciating everything. Not just limited to art. But apply this concept to life in general..

Blogging

I often wonder why people blog. It was once a hobby of mine often quite controversial to those around me. But I decided to take it up again. Maybe as a source to vent out the random ponders I incur throughout the day. Or to vent frustrations about life and the surrounding bubble it encompasses.

In any case.. I'm back :)
